Cron Syntax Guide

LiteLambda uses the standard 5-field UNIX cron syntax to determine when your Python script should run.

The 5 Fields

A cron expression consists of five space-separated fields representing different time units.

Field Position Meaning Allowed Values
1stMinute0 - 59
2ndHour0 - 23
3rdDay of Month1 - 31
4thMonth1 - 12
5thDay of Week0 - 6 (0 = Sunday)

Timezone

All cron schedules in LiteLambda are evaluated in UTC. Keep this in mind when scheduling jobs intended to run during local business hours.

Special Characters

  • * (Asterisk): Matches any value. E.g., * in the minute field means "every minute".
  • , (Comma): Value list separator. E.g., 1,15,30 in the minute field means minutes 1, 15, and 30.
  • - (Hyphen): Range of values. E.g., 1-5 in the day-of-week field means Monday through Friday.
  • / (Slash): Step values. E.g., */10 in the minute field means "every 10 minutes".
